This past weekend I was lucky enough to participate in two great races. sat was the Colavita XC race at the wyco trails. This race was a huge success. A great course, lots of good folks and a great venue made for a really good time. I even felt like I rode pretty well ta-boot.
Stull EP from 90's alterna rockers Urge Overkill
Sunday was the sunflower RR, also a really good race. Finding out there would be a new course this year was a pleasant surprise. The new route was an improvement, it was one 47 mile loop through rolling country and a few good climbs, plus a bonus fly by of one of the seven gateways to hell Or Stull Kansas to be more precise. Stull is a sleepy little town on the course just west of Lawrence, that legend has it is one of the seven gateways to hell. An old church and grave yard are conected to lore of witch covens and satanists. It is a legend, that back in the 90's a very good friend of mine felt very strongly about. Mostly this just resulted in drunkin' spiels at the bar, or camping at near by clinton lake talking about different rock stars that believed in the story. Urge Overkill and the Cure are the only I remember but I'm sure there were more. Either way it is something I haven't thought of in a long while and I enjoyed the memories.
