gravel worlds
Despite a real lack of form I headed up to Lincoln last weekend for Gravel Worlds. Even if I couldn't race it I could still enjoy a ride in the country with some good company, and that's just what I did. The first half I pushed a descent pace riding with Eric Finks and a few others. Leaving checkpoint 2 I hooked up with single speeders Aaron Gammel and Janna Vavra, both fellow TI v7 finishers, and rode it all the way in with them. The weather was ideal, relatively cool and overcast. The only problem was the trip up Friday night. I was to drive up Friday night with John Welsh after I got done at work. We left John's house at 11, 2 hours after I planned. Then when highway 29 was closed due to flooding we got routed to the wrong side of the river, forcing us to go all the way to Omaha. In the end we arrived 2 hours before the race started, sleeping for one of those hours had us starting a 150 mile gravel road race loopy and sleep deprived. All's well that ends well
